Born and bred in Haarlem, The Netherlands, Wouter has spent over 15 years where creativity, technology and data meet the customer. As a convention free explorer, he’s helped companies scale up across Telco, Retail, Travel, Fintech, MarTech and Gaming.
Wouter’s healthy aversion to the status quo and drive to experiment did not combine well with his commercial pilot training. Yet it is exactly this convention-free problem solving approach that was key in the emerging online industry and helped him succeed in both scale ups and major corporates.
Since 2019 Wouter is VP performance at GetYourGuide, the leading marketplace for travel experiences, he’s responsible for the acquisition and retention of customers across the globe. Before this, he worked at some of the most sophisticated advertisers in the world to keep pushing the envelope in marketing technology. As VP digital at Sprint, he inhoused online marketing and proved incremental effect of online on sales in their 5000 stores.
As CMO at Coolblue, the Dutch example for customer centricity, where he helped prove the indirect effect of marketing. While at Google, he oversaw the partnership with one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated advertisers, Booking.com. Before Google he worked in startups, as CMO at Deloitte Fast50 finalist EasyToBook.com (acquired by Cheaptickets in 2011) and prior to that at co-founder at SEM agency ClearSense (acquired by World Directories in 2006).
Wouter is married and has 4 children.
