Mark’s media career spans three decades; a consummate sales professional Mark has a proven track record of achieving rapid global revenue growth, from TV content and online media technology.
He learnt the ropes working at TVNZ where he held various commercial roles, including running a National Sales Team and launching the music channel MTV. Mark moved to the UK in 1998 and found his calling working for entrepreneurs. He joined Chello Zone, (a small thematic channel distributor and producer), that had carved a niche within Eastern Europe and needed to scale globally. Mark grew the revenue ten fold to over US$100M in six years, creating a global sales team based in 19 offices worldwide with 120+ personnel.
He next joined Internet start-up, Jump TV in Feb 2006 as Managing Director. The Company distributed hundreds of live linear TV channels, via the Internet on a subscription and advertising based model. This role meant running up a lot more air-miles, with another rapid expansion, building a global sales team that spanned five continents. Jump TV was successfully floated (TSX & AIM) in August 2006 raising US$150M with a one time market cap of US$450M.
Since 2009 Mark has co-founded three start-up media businesses that all required capital; a mixture of VC, institution and angel investment. The businesses included a sailing channel; UK’s largest local TV Network, which owns and operates eight city based TV channels and a media-tech company, designed to improve metadata and personalise merchandising and monetisation options for TV Operators.
Mark moved back to NZ in 2016 to take up the role as Chief Commercial Officer at MediaWorks but has since moved back to where his heart lies, helping start-ups develop and prosper.
